What is StrikeStar UK?
StrikeStar UK is a network of Boltek lightning detectors around the UK (and a few others too!). These detectors all send their data to our central server where the StrikeStar software developed by Astrogenic Systems triangulates their data and presents the results in near realtime.

What is the image above?
The image above is the data from the StrikeStar network but delayed by 30 minutes. It automatically updates every 2 minutes without you needing to refresh the page. The time of the last update is shown at the top in UTC (equivalent to GMT).

Why is the image delayed?
As you can imagine, there are costs to developing a system such as this. We have decided that the best way to fund ongoing development is to make the realtime data a subscription service. You can get delayed sferics data by subscription from the Met Office with the same delay as the above image so we think that we can offer something extra with the near realtime images StrikeStar generates.

How do I subscribe and what exactly do I get?
Subscriptions range from £19.95 for a year down to £2.95 for a month and you can purchase a subscription here. You can see examples of the subscription images by clicking here.

If I have a Boltek lightning detector, how can I be part of the network?
If you have a Boltek detector and run Astrogenic's NexStorm software then we would like to hear from you. There are a small number of simple criteria you need to fulfil to join the network and once you are sending us data you will get a free subscription to the realtime service for as long as you send us your data.
